my family is ALWAYS asking me "whats wrong with you?" "are you okay?". everytime they come home or see me thats the first question they ask. i tell them nothing is wrong with me and they say that i look miserable, i say im not miserable and they STILL ask me the same questions again later. because they KEEP doing it it makes me upset because thats ALL they ask me. it is VERY annoying.on the occasion that they speak with me about other things, once i say something, they suddenly say "why are u so miserable?" and start asking me the same questions again.. constantly asking me these question is what is now making me miserable with them and now i try not to talk to them at all..i explain to them im not miserable and i dont know why they keep thinking that, that maybe its just how i look, i dont know, but they dont listen.. my family never listens me. when i start talkin about things i want to do she doesnt try to support me or anything unless i point it out that she isnt.

I think that people come to associate certain expressions with happiness and sadness (and whatever in between), but people may associate differently according to culture, family, friends, or other variables.
Since it sounds like you've lived with your mom always, I'd think she'd know a little more than you think. My mom usually knew more than she let on (so I'd find out later). It is possible your demeanor has changed without your awareness?
You're parents separated? I can't tell when. But my parents divorced when I was 15 or so. I never would've admitted it during my teen years, but I was miserable for a long time.
Also, I've always been a quiet person. I guess people associate talking with happiness, because I'm constantly asked if I'm mad or ok or whatever.
Maybe the tone of voice or speed of talking influences perceptions of mood?

I'm sorry that this is happing to you, it's so hard growing up. Parents don't always understand what's happening in thier childrens lives. They worry a lot especially if they have to work all the time.

Just let your mom know that if you are ever up set or miserable that you will talk with her, that you will share this with her. She probably is just concerned with your well being and doesn't mean to up set or hurt you.

Maybe it will help her start to learn to listen to you knowing that you want to let her know if some thing is wrong.

It's too bad that she has to work so much, it's so hard when you have to do that and be away from your children. I know as I had to work to support my daughter and home.

Try to help your mom out by doing your share around the house, it will help take some of the load off of her and maybe free up some of her time. Maybe this way she won't be so tired and she will have more time to spend with you, and it will help put some communication back between the two of you.

I will keep you in my prayers that you and your family will start to have better communication between you. You take care and know that your mom loves you a lot, after all she works so hard to be able to provide for you and your needs. If she didn't care she wouldn't be doing all that she is.

God Bless you, stay strong and do well in your life to make your mom so proud of your!

I've had similar experiences where people kept asking "what are you mad about?" or "why are you in a bad mood?" just because I didn't feel like talking. Having them ask that question over and over PUT me in a bad mood! I guess they just interpreted my quietness as being mad. Ask them what makes them think you are miserable, and tell them that the only thing that makes you miserable is them asking why you are miserable. Peace to you.

You know what your problem is? It's your face. You're probably similar to me. You don't walk around with a s**t eating grin on your head, so everybody assumes you're pi**ed about something. Tell them you can't help it. Smiling like an idiot all the time just makes them think you're crazy. If you have nothing to smile about, so be it! I'm always suspicious of people who look happy all the time anyway. They really are nuts!

If you let her read this it might stimulate her to listen to what you have to say.
She may also be having a lot of problems herself and may inadvertly projecting that onto you.
As with everything communication and education is the key. However executing that is a entirely daunting task.
Keep trying these things take time and good luck.

A. If your family has known you for years and yet persists in asking you the same question over and over and over and over, they appear to be mentally ill.

B. Perhaps there is something about you that makes them think this?

C. Stop hanging around them. Or as soon as they ask you that question, excuse yourself and leave. Simple.

Why would they listen to you ~ you only said that NOTHING is wrong. Now, is something really wrong & you don't want to talk about it, or is something wrong & you wished that you had someone in your family to talk to? If you can't talk to your family about it, talk to someone at Church, School or even a good friend.

Good Luck!

Show her clearly - and I mean CLEARLY - that you're pissed about this. That'll shut her up.

You might have the EMO syndrome. If that's the case, do us a favor and rid this world of yourself.
