Lately we have not been getting along or rather he calls me and starts these ridiculous conversations, acts really silly and when I try to talk to him on a serious level he sits there going "no no not listening" and starts on another train of ridiculous conversation. There is no "click" anymore and just when I want to break it off he then makes a 180 and all of a sudden wants to find out how I'm doing or if I miss him. Essentially there is no passion or closeness anymore, I don't know what happened but I do know I want to end it as friends. No connection with another person whom you really thought there was a future sucks

see I just got off the phone with him and it was nothing but 15 minutes of silliness. Last night it was 30 minutes of plain and total silliness, not once did we talk for real. I can't take it anymore

My last BF was like that. It got to the point where no matter what I said, he'd take it and make a joke of it.
Then, when he started TRYING to fart loud and laughing about it, I knew the "honeymoon" was over....

You know what you have to do.
As long as you put up with this from him, you are teaching him that he can get away with it.
So let him make another 180, you just keep going in the other direction.

obviously he wants to break it off with you, but he has no nuts and wants you to do the breaking up so you can be the ********* and he can be the martyr to love, dump him and don't bother trying to be friends that will not work, move on.
