I agree with all the above mentioned. the num lock should also have a light above the 10 key pad, make sure it is on when you push the num lock button.

If you are talking about the 10-Key pad, check to make sure the NumLock is turned on. Otherwise, they are directional keys.

If you're refering to the keypad on the right, you need to have numlock turned on. It is a key that tends to be in the upper left portion of the keypad on the right.
