My doctor just told me yesterday that when I go off the pill to get pregnant, to start taking pre-natal vitamins to increase the folic acid in my system.

Good Luck!

No. It is recommended because your body needs more of the nutrient during pregnancy, and it's good to start off with it already stored in the system. It has absolutely nothing to do with conception. It's about giving your baby a running start.

It will not help you get pregnant, but it is important to start taking it if you expect to become pregnant because it it extremely important in preventing birth defects and ensures healthy developement of the fetus.
