A smile goes a long way. Never be afraid to tell an embarrassing story like a time you can look back and laugh at. My classic one is I wasn't paying attention while on this date and tripped over a fire hydrant and ripped my pants, but since we were going to the movies I went in thinking its dark no one will notice, but the ticket lady kept staring and I told her I made a move during dinner and my date set me straight. Making yourself look perfect makes others scared to tell their funny and embarrassing stories. Laughter is so important meeting people.

Well some people are just born to be more outgoing and the life of the party...I totally believe in horoscopes and your sign..

I'm a Leo we have to be the center of attention so I don't have too many problems with talking but there are certain occasions where I feel nervous..

What I do is sit back and watch people see what their talking about what interests them...usually someone will try to ease the tension and say well your quiet thats your cue to start talking with them..

Or if you know someone works at a certain place you can ask how do you like it or what do you do, what are going to school for...

Smiling is a huge thing..even if you don't talk alot if you smile people will come to talk to you because your inviting.

Think of things that you would want people to say to you if you were just sitting there...because others might be feeling the same way as you..

Practice in the mirror...I had a job in Customer Service that really helped me...so you can always pretend their a client, or a customer...

Speak using correct grammar.
Use positive terms.
Use words people understand (no slang or 13 letter words)
Talk about others not yourself.
Stay away from politics and religion.
Do not dominate the conversation - your reply should be less than 2 minutes not matter what.
Let the other person lead the conversation.
If you don't get the chance to make your point. move on...
Notice the lack of references to myself.
No gossip.

that's a good starting point...

You have to feel comfortable with the person you're talking to first. If you are, it will all be naturall, believe me.
We tend to act just a tad different when we arent comfortable - we're not ourselves. That's why some people take longer to make REAL good and close friends.

be yourself number one...upgrade your vocabulary by learning and using a new word each week, but don't talk over someones head where they can not understand you
Read, read and read some more...watch the news, learn new things
knowledge is power...keep learning and that will give you a wide variety of subjects that you can talk about ... be careful not to do "all" of the talking though.

be cool...

Ask about the other person's interests, etc. Too many people talk about themselves, blah blah blah. and it turns others off.
