Can this phone charge through the USB cable connected to a computer rather than a mains charger?

Yes you can charge the K800i up through USB & not a mains charger.

If you have bought the phone on contract you should have had a grey USB cable in the box to connect it up.

yes it can, just pop into your local pc or mobile shop and they will give you the usb with the right connection for it
