is Villa the Birds in Santorini a good hotel?

It looks grate. Clean and calm. Never have been in this hotel.
My recommendation is to have an on-line check for
other hotels in the area. Most, rather the majority of them are with on-line booking system and they offer more or less the same facilities. If you have such good recommendations as you mention go for it, no doubt that you will have grate time in Santorini.

I like them and the pictures tell a thousand words. You probably won't get too many referrals as they have only recently been built, but these people have featured them in their directory so they must be as good as they look !!

As you probably know, "The Birds" is a small newly built deluxe hotel with 2 maisonettes and 4 double rooms situated in Perissa which is very near to the black sandy beach in a quite area close to the centre of the village.

It does look very good indeed but I saw that it is next to some road, isn't it? See that it is not noisy, especially at times you would need to relax.

Check with the persons who recommended this hotel to you, they should know...
