I'm going to Cal Day, on the school paper/editor, getting good grades, taking adv./ap classes! what else do i need to do... like EVERYTHING....

1. Community service helps. Volunteer work counts for a lot.
2. Sports, but they don't need to be varsity or even school affiliated. Playing on a club team or running in various charity 5ks will help make you look good.
3. Art/music like starting your own band, singing in a church choir, playing in the school orchestra, dance troupes, drill teams, art shows, etc.
4. Academic competitions like Academic Decathlon, Math Field Day, Science Bowl, Quiz Bowl, etc.

So, how good are your grades? And how are your SATs? What's your class rank? How's the rest of your school district.

I think that in California you need to be in the top percentage of your high school class to get into Berkeley. Here is a thorough explanation from the university.
