I was looking up the occupations of Congress members and many of them were lawyers. Many former presidents were lawyers too (i.e. Bill Clinton) Is there some kind of connection between the two professions?

Well most lawyers know how to pontificate and BS a lot also the legal profession is not a real job you are not creating anything you are basically feeding off the misfortune and problems of your fellow citizens, which makes it very similar to politics hence it is very easy to transfer from one profession to the other.

A lawyer could leave his law firm, and other lawyers would take up the caseload. In other words, he wouldn't be missed. And when he leaves office, he usually can go back.

In the private sector, a candidate would probably be told, we can't spare you . No guarantee there will e a position open for you if you want to come back.

I think this is a problem,,,,, too many lawyers
