Yes, the Mayan Indians have made some predictions of things to come in that time. They speak of great change, which may include the end of man, if he does something to make it happen.

The Mayans have been hunted and persecuted for over five hundred years now, only since the early 1990's have they felt it safe enough to come out and speak of the time and how to prepare. Interestingly, their predictions are slowly being verified by science. Here is a little summary of the people and their prophecy.

The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.

According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way, ninety degrees relative to the black hole, at its center. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension. This date also marks the end of the Mayan "Great Cycle" of the long count, which is equivalent to 5125 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.

In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity will cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can.

The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.

Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.

Yep! That's whats going around "rumours" and that is all it is worth. The disasters and dire predictions are based on the Mayan calendars end. Apparently the Mayans devised a calender so precise that it was uncanny to those who first discovered it. Now the calender ends in 2011 so as a result the naive and the ignorant perpetrate the rumours as a fact to be reckoned with.
I would be more worried about the sun flares in 2011 than anything else. Those things are due to erupt in that year according to the patterns the scientists have worked out. If there is a very large explosion of the flares in that coming year then it is quite possible it could destroy the whole of the electrical grid on the planet!! No rumour there, a factual possibility. Now read that last line again. No rumour there, a factual POSSIBILITY.
The key word here is possibility.
You might want to prepare for that by investing in a sound windmill and generator but don't use it till the damage is done. The damage will be any transformer working during the destructive flare of the sunspot. You could recognize it by the Northern Lights, if you see them so far south that New York city or townships south of New York city see them crystal clear then you know trouble is at hand for the next few years.
Maybe... and just maybe this is what is part of the Mayan calender. The cyclical sun-flare.

A lot of this is based on the fact that the Mayan calender ends in 2012 - the Mayans indicate that this is a time of change - another 'age' so to speak.

There are others who point to 'markings' on Stone Henge that portent a huge disaster forthcoming.

There are hundreds of prophecies and rumors.


The fact is that there are major disasters every year - just had one today (Earthquake) - so all the rumors will be true as there is likely to be a major disaster in 2012.

Will the world is going to be destroyed or not? I highly doubt - there are not many Prophecies that have come true (or at least that have been interpreted correctly BEFORE the event).

Nostradamus has many predictions - but they are unclear until events happen...

There were rumors that the world would end in 1999 - the original prophecy said the world would end in 999 - perhaps it's been extended now?

So I wouldn't worry too much - if the world does end in 2012 - then there's nothing to worry about any more anyway!

Do you remember all of the predictions of how the world was supposed to end January 1, 2000? There were people saying that the world was supposed to have all sorts of disasters and wars and destruction. It was not all based on Y2K either. There were people saying that Nostradamus made the prediction or that some other sort of prophecy was being fulfulled. However, we are still here.

If you look back in history, you will see lots of times people claimed that the end of the world was going to happen at a specific date or in a specific year. However, all of those proved to be untrue. The same will hold true for the 2012 predictions.

all the ancient civilizations used the 13 month lunar calendar. the mayans were the most efficient at keeping time. the mayan calendar ends on the winter solstice 2012. the maps of the stars the mayans produced has accurately predicted the location of the stars and other heavenly bodies for the last 5 thousand years, so perhaps they had something. with the alignment that is set to take place in 2012, something we as a people have no experience with, catastrophic pole switching may occur. just wait and see.

I heard about that. They had a special on History channel about it. The mayan calendar, a chinese ancient text and lots of other prophoseys point to that date. On the winter solstice 2012 the sun will be in the center or the milky way galaxy and the earth will be in some alignment. What may happen is like crossing the equator of the galaxy or something. and a pole shift and climate change may occur. Like the north pole will move south and the south pole will move north. There is some evidence that this has happened before. It was an intersting show.

nicely its not actual, not actual in any respect! in 2000 they thought the international might end, all of us replaced into freaking out finding out to purchase various nutrition. additionally around 1950 they began to have faith the international will end. the only reason people think of the international will lead to 2012 is as a results of the fact the widespread Mayan calender ends. this somewhat descendant from the Mayan tribe stated that the Mayans in simple terms have been given drained. And plus, do not even think of roughly it, its in a pair of years! :)
