Do I have to test with my first morning urine (FMU)? Not necessarily. In general, FMU is the most concentrated urine of the day and thus more likely to have built up more hCG in it. If you are testing early (before 14 DPO), the HPT is more likely to detect the hCG in your FMU. After 14 DPO there should be enough hCG to be detected at any time of day. Some women have better luck with second morning urine (SMU.) A good rule of thumb: hold your pee for 3-4 hours (and drink as little as possible!) Then pee in a cup. If your urine looks nice and yellow, it's concentrated enough for testing (see FAQ 16 below for more info on peeing in cups vs. peeing on sticks.) If it looks diluted, dump it and try again later.

You can take it at any time of day. I got a BFP at midnight.

The only reason they say to do it in the morning is that you will have a higher concentration of hcg (the pregnancy hormone) in the morning than in the afternoon, possibility giving you a positive reading earlier.

It doesnt have to be first thing in the morning. That's just when your HCG levels would pick up on the test better, because ou havent drank or ate anything. So your urine wont be diluted. I actually never took any of my pregnancy tests right in the moring, and they all came back positive. (I'm pregnant with #3) Good luck to you!

It's fine to take it at another time. It says early in the morning because you'll have a higher concentration of urine early in the morning.

Most tests don't require you to take it in the AM, but I believe the hormone builds up in the urine overnight, so you might get an earlier result if you do an AM test.

you can take it any time. it suggested to use the first morning because it is the most undiliuted as most people dont drink or pee during the night . therefore it has the highest amount of the hormone

the whole idea behind morning testing is to get urine that has been in your body for 4+ hours... anytime of day is fine as long as this rule of thumb applies
