Art is expression and an artist is the one who expresses. By expression I mean an internal idea rendered into an external one.

Art is really in the eyes of the beholder, anything can be called art, even if it is unworthy of the terminology. Anyone can call himself an artist, all he or she has to do throw some paint on the canvas, or cover up buildings in material etc.

Art is defined by those who see it as an expression of beauty or the expression of ones innermost feelings. Art is different to each person, this is why you would get many different answers. As for 'who is an artist', everyone is to a certain degree. Whether you have artistic talent is up to those who judge your work but everyone has the ability to create artwork in one form or another.

i think an artist is the one who sees and feels things beyond reality, those things normal people can not see. he or she tries to communicate with others through their art. in a very fine language that touches the inner souls of people and affects them in a sweet way that lifts them temporarily to fine world of the artist.

It may be cliche but art is in the eye of the beholder. What I think is art is ugly graffiti to some others, etc.
