My pictures of family.old ones of great great grandparents.oral & writen family history about for example how my people homes were burned by Sherman's troops ,how my great uncle lost his leg to a Yankee bullet,& how that ruined his life. how we or the first settlers on both sides of my family in the area.before their was even a state.of South Carolina.this gives one a sense of place and family .the traditon of Christian love ,the tradition of hugging family memners the tradition of story telling, family get togethers.the tradition of having certain words to express ourselfs,in a Southern way.Mostly its the tradition of kindness that i appreciate more then anything, which links me with the past and to my future.with a sense of respect for ancesters and a comroderie with fellow South Carolinians.as we have gone thru much in our history. we share some of the same family memorys & historys.so what links people is a common history.and the things i was given by my grandparents which were their great great grandparents links me with our past, their all dead now.but i carry their memorys and some of their things and I will try to pass on family historys with my children, and then they will share it with their children.

The fact that in a world of change, people can have some sense of continuity in their lives. Something they can count on. It also gives people a connection to the past.
