Valarie Plame was a covert operator in the CIA. She ran an operation that investigated nuclear arms in the middle east. When her husband came out and said that Bush lied about Iraq buying uranium from Africa the Bush administration decided to punish him. They leaked her name. When the CIA found out they asked the government to look into it because leaking that information is treason. Libby was questioned and lied through his teeth. Since the prosecutor could not get a straight answer he charged Libby with lying and obstruction of justice.

you will notice that no one in the government is defending Libby. That's not because they are throwing him to the wolves. It's because the Libs have bitten off more than they can chew.
Libby hasn't done anything and soon the Libs are going to be exposed for having spent all this money on a trial about outing a CIA agent that wasn't a CIA agent.
I can hardly wait to hear them squirm.

Someone in Washington wrote an article that outed an undercover CIA agent. Her husband (Joseph Wilson I think) came out and accused the administration of outing the agent (Valerie Plame Wilson) because he had filed a report that was damaging to the administration. So a special investigator was sent in to see what happened. Two days into his investigation the special investigator (Fitzgerald) found out that Richard Armitage was the one who told the press about Valerie Plame.

And even though he knew who it was he continued putting people under oath and interogating them hoping someone would slip up and lie or just make an hones mistake under oath. This is what happend to Scooter Libby. He apparently forgot when or from whom he found out about Valerie Plame and thus he got the perjury charges brought against him. The special investigator should be brought up on charges for misconduct in my opionion, this case is one of the most unjust things I've ever followed. The special prosecutor is the reason the media was able to label this administration the most corrupt ever. He knew two days into his investigation the identity of the leaker but he kept that secret and allowed the press to slander the administration with all the allegations against Cheney and Rove and Libby.

Libby is not even on trial for outing Plame he is on trial for what's called a process crime. The special investigator is claiming he intentionally lied under oath and thus the crime.

Mr. Wilson's report that was damaging to the administration was also found to be false in it's reporting. ( I encourage you to investigate this for yourself so you will know which side is telling the truth and which side is lying to you.)
