My friends above have covered most of the essentials for booking online for Indian rail from Hyd but for one thing - to "any" place in India. From Hyd, you can book only to "a" place in India covered on the Indian Railways network. Smile!

For online bookings visit the site http://www.irctc.co.in/ and register yourself free with a few details. There are two types of online books 1) e-ticket and 2) i-ticket. go to the book the ticket option and book your tickets. eticket can be viewed on your computer screen and a printout can be taken out which is valid while on travel. carry an ID proof for one of the travelling passengers. you can book and e ticket only if it is available on confirmed status. i ticket can be booked with an address where you want the same to be posted. so it should be a few days in advance but can be a waiting list one. the modes of payment are credit card or itz card. there are no issues regarding refund in case of cancellations as well. so online is the best way, if you are sceptical for the first time, dont be. its safe

I agree with the first one. But it is not necessary to have online banking account. If U have a credit or debit card it is sufficient.
U have to give credit card No. and the 3 digit no. which is back side of credit/debit card
