Or do you think that Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, Gilbert Arenas, or LeBron James can take it from him?

Kobe has been doing well, but his team has lost to the Suns when Kobe and Nash were both playing.

Dirk has cooled off a bit since the all-star break, and Dallas can win without him, so he's not necessarily 'most valuable.'

Arenas is the leading scorer, but hasn't lifted his team to excellence, although Washington did break the Suns' 17-game win streak.

LeBron has been good, but Houston wins even when he's hurt.

Phoenis went 1-4 with Nash out mid-season with his shoulder injury.

What do you think and why?

I believe that Steve Nash has a good chance of winning it again. I'm sorry Mav's fans but your boy Dirk is soo overrated!! He is so soft it's not even funny. Although, it is too early to tell I think that this is going to be a tight race. Lebron doesn't have a chance he's fallen off the charts and needs to develop some heart. IF the Lakers can somehow pull off a winning streak and beat the elite teams then I believe that Kobe will be right back up there and may steal a close one from Nash. Granted Nash and the Suns did beat Kobe and the Lakers this sunday but come on that doesn't say anything. Just like last year during the playoffs Kobe shoved his Balls in Nash's face when he dunked on him and showed him who the real MVP last year was. Again it's too early to tell but at the end of the day Nash will most likely win it! If i had a vote it would go to KB24, but that's just my opinion!

Here's my point of view. Steve Nash is the most valuable player but I think Dirk Nowitzki will win the MVP for three reasons.

1. Dirk is having a career year and he is a big part of the
Mavericks success.

2. The Mavs are having too great a year for fans and voters to
ignore

3. two words: new blood. The idea of Nash winning MVP #3 is
nice, but sometime voters will want to vote a new MVP. for
example the years when Charles Barkley (in 93) and Karl
Malone (in 97) won the MVP's instead of MJ)

Don't get me wrong I'm a very big fan of Steve Nash, he is the best point guard in the NBA right now, but I think Dirk deserves a MVP award too. and on a side note I'm sure if you asked Nash his opinion, he would want to see his old teammate Dirk win the award.

I think it will be Dirk. He has cooled slightly since all star break but I think he is just resting up. What has happened on the Mavericks is that Dirk and and the rest of the team of learned to rely on one another. Dirk is still the team leader but he now knows how to involve everyone on the team. Because of this ability the Mavericks are hot. I truly believe that Dirk could lead the Mavs even from the bench. Avery has convinced the Mavs and Dirk that if they work together they will win. So to the best player on the best team goes the MVP. That's Dirk.

Yes, I believe Steve Nash will get his 3rd MVP this year. First, he is having a better year than he did last year. Second, despite the Suns going 1-4 with out him this year, it bolstered his MVP case. When ever he is on the floor, his players just seem to play better, even if Nash isn't involved in the play. He can take little men, big men, any one. He is averaging 19.1 points per game, and 11.7 assists per game. Ever since he has joined the Suns in 2004, every player that has joined the Suns after Nash came have had career highs playing with Nash.

Dirk is the MVP this season no question about it he was the only player on his team to be choosen to the all star game (howard was choosen later as a replacement due to injury by stern) the suns had 3 counting nash hands down DIRK is the man

It will depend on the next head-to-head games between the Mavericks and Phoenix. If Dirk and the Mavs end up sweeping the season series (which they lead 2-0), then it would be hard pressed to give it to Nash.

Oh, by the way it was Kevin Garnett and the T-Wolves that stopped the 17-win streak ;-)

There's a big possibility that steve nash will win a 3rd MVP award. Though, I must admit that if this happens, it's gonna be a big joke around the league. honestly, he won't even make my list for my 100 best ball players of all time.

NO! Dirk will win....his team has best record in league. He hasn't been hurt so the Mavs havn't played without him, but if hew was to get hurt they would be as good as they are. Dirk league MVP hands down!

Steve Nash will win it unless he gets hurt again and misses a significant number of games. If he plays for most of the rest of the season I think that he will win it.
