CONGRATS ON YOUR LITTLE BUNDLE BUN!!!

Ok i think i know what you are talking about.

Yes sex and orgasms can sometimes cause your cervix to open early on in pregnany. I was actually told not to have sex for about 8 weeks by my doula when i got pregnant. there have been studies surrounding a component called prostaglandins in semen that can soften the cervix and cause it to open.

The sharp pains you are talking about can be one of a few things:
Gas- those pesky gas bubbles can cause pain sometimes.

round ligament pain - this is normal in your stage of pergnancy. you would notice this mostly at night or first thing in the morning when your body has been resting. most of us feel it during that mad dash to the bathroom. it can be a sharp pain or a dull lulling pain in the area you discribed.

braxton hicks contractions- braxton hicks can start as early as 6 weeks in your pregnancy. some women get them some women never do. they are like 'practice' for the big day (you can even practice your breathing) and are not harming your baby or your uterus. It is a tightening of the uterine muscles for one to two minutes.

here is more information on BHC http://www.americanpregnancy.org/labornbirth/braxtonhicks.html

If for any reason the pain is not bearable and you are following the steps in the website i provided for you, or if you see any bleeding or spotting, go directly to your emergency room or doctors office (which ever is closest and open). do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. blood is a sign that something is not right.

also note and inform your doctor of any change in discharge that you may have.

i hope this helps. good luck and congrats again :)

Sounds to me that you are describing round ligament pain(not contractions) which is very normal and common at this stage in pregnancy.

Also Braxton Hicks contractions do not dialate you and do not cause any problems with your uterus.

Braxton Hicks contractions start as early as the sixth week although it can't be felt until you are farther along.
I think if you are having anything it is probably that and it is no harm to you. It is just preparation for the real thing

Call your drs answering service and ask that a dr call you back or if you can have as immediate appt. any kind of pain or contractions this early on you should have checked. If you can't see or talk to your dr please go to the er.
best of luck to you
remeber to stay calm, the baby can sense stress...

From your description it sound like the ligaments in your pelvis streching to make room for the baby. This is completly normal.

I don't think this is contractions. I didn't understand the part about sex though.
