First prove to yourself that it is not a fake by researching the size and signature of the statue. Pay attention to all the details of dimensions, date, etc. Then if you still are convinced it is original, get it authenticated - which will cost you some money. If it is real, and worth some significant money - the cost of apraisal should include a certificate by the authority that did the authentication. You should get the entire history of this piece and picture to go with it.

There are 22 bronze sculptures by Frederic listed at the last site, and it says this is all he made. So, your's would be on of 22 in existence - worth a lot of money if original.
