If everyone stays healthy and uninjured, I don't see why they couldn't win it all in '07. I hope they do.

Absolutely not. This is a team that lost almost 100 games last year. Granted, they did sign Alfonso Soriano, but one bat will not win you another 30 or 40 games. The offense won't be much of an issue. Their defense probably needs some work. The major problem with the Cubs lies in their pitching staff. Mark Prior will be a perpetual question mark until he is able to put together a season or two where he isn't injured. Jason Marquis was 14-16 and had an ERA over 6 last year with the Cardinals who were a much better team than the Cubs. And their other big free agent add, Ted Lily, is known as a fly-ball pitcher, which likely won't fare well at Wrigley with thier short porch and swirling winds. Carlos Zambrano can be as good as anyone in the league, as long as he doesn't get touched-up early in the game. If that is the case, he tends to melt-down. Also, they haven't really done anything to address their issues in the bullpen. The Cubs will be improved over last year, but they still have a ways to go to get to be a playoff level team. They can dump $40 million dollar contracts on as many mid-level pitchers as they want, but they still will not win the World Series this year.

These Cubs you're talking about, are they the ones that play baseball on the north side of Chicago? Are these the same Cubs that play in Wrigley field? Are these the same Cubs that haven't won anything in a century? I suggest you sober up and snap back into reality.

HEY HEY CUBS FAN!!! Not so fast. While I have nothing against the Cubs or their fans, I think that the Yankees will win this year. I would like to see the Cubs do well and even play the World Series. However, I will always go for the Yankees, no matter what.

The good news..... they now have Pinella and Soriano.
The bad news.....the team is injury prone every year and history of winning is not on their side.
Best case scenario.....drunk cub fans keep talking trash as the cubs slowly go on the DL and fallback 15 games out of first by the All-Star game.

As a Red Sox fan, I feel for you Cubs fans ... but you're not gunna make it while you're still relying on Prior and Wood to make it to the rotation ... sorry but you guys just spent your payroll for the next 3 or 4 years and just aren't looking good enough to win a World Series. But us sox fans have an addage that would work well for you - "There's always next year!"

When I look at how much money they spent, and the players they signed, I say yeah they could win.
However, c'mon guys. This is the Cubs we are talking about.
I say no. They will not even make the World Series.

ha!! tis to laugh!! it has been 100 years, and will be another 100 before the lovable cubbies win anything! it is good they have supporters like you! you must be very loyal to put upwith the losing for generation after generation! actually, though, if the cubs stay healthy, and if those pansies, wood, and prior, can finally stay healthy, the cubs just might!! do something! after all, didn't the st. louis cardinals win the world series with just 83!! REGULAR SEASON WINS? ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! signing lou pinella might be goo for cubbies! he has fire they need to maybe play like winners for once in their sorry existence! good luck! but they cannNot beat the METS!!!
