I have a 97 Cadillac Deille and if I stop for a couple of minutes and have my car in park but still running when I push the gas to pull off smoke comes out the back and it sounds like valves may be tapping for a couple seconds, whats the problem? I get all oil changes on time and keep oil in my car.

You may have a valve gunking up on you. This sort of thing happens with cars that have a lot of miles on them, with worn seals and bearings and what have you. One thing I recommend is VERY CAREFULLY and VERY SPARINGLY pouring some automatic transmission fluid directly into the throttle body of your engine. ATF will leach out any oil deposits that sit on the valves of your engine. However, when you do this, keep the engine revved up a little bit--it doesn't have to be howling like crazy, but rev it up whenever you've got ATF going through the system--it'll prevent the engine from balking out when the thicker fluid is going through it.

Another thing I recommend is using Valvoline MaxLife in the engine for your next oil change. MaxLife is a little pricier, but its one of the few products out there that truly works. MaxLife contains seal conditioners and detergents that help work out dry seals and sludge deposits that sit in an engine, and help it run smoother with a visible increase in horespower over time.

The possibilties are too lots to take a wager. it somewhat is the the battery, alternator, undesirable connections or a too severe voltage drop interior the wires. How vibrant are the lighting fixtures fixtures, do they dim lots once you attempt to start the automobile? If the lighting fixtures fixtures are very dim and dim much extra once you attempt to start the automobile it somewhat is the battery or alternator. If the lighting fixtures fixtures are dim yet flow brighter the 2d that the automobile starts (with the jumper cables bumped off ) it somewhat is the battery. If the lighting fixtures fixtures stay dim in case you rev up the engine slightly with the cables bumped off it somewhat is the alternator. the actuality which you should jumpstart it factors remote from the starter because of fact the troublemaker. First have the battery checked.

What color smoke??? White -- then you may have a blown head gasket or leaky intake manifold gasket. Black -- then you're getting gas through the system Blue -- then you have a problem with piston rings or valve seals.

Get it checked out then you know.
