Need some examples of Deviance and Social-conflict in our lifes.

Communities/societies decide what is normal and abnormal or deviant. People avoid associating with you, preachers instruct their congregations, psychologists list it in their book, laws are passed against it. You may believe it's OK and normal, but if society as a whole doesn't...

For example, is it OK and normal to enjoy a beach and the ocean without any clothes on? I think so. But 99% of people don't. So if I did it, it would be considered deviant. Murder is also deviant behavior. Masturbating in private is OK, but do it in public...deviant.

Like Jennifer said, "deviance" is a term created by the people/ culture/ and environment (zeitgeist). Deviance could be better stated as the deviation from the accepted norm - not the actual norm. Consider the complexity of the Kinsey studies: He was able to determine and document a much more open attitude toward sex in the majority of people than the society as a whole admitted to BUT those same people were adhering to what they thought was the conservative norm and wouldn't talk about or admit their attitudes to anyone else. The social conflict comes when those people with the open attitude toward sex are subjected to give an opinion or statement in public which conflicts with their attitudes or beliefs.

More deviance examples:
tattoos. piercings.
pre-marital sex.
engaging in meaningless sexual relationships.
doing something for the advancement of yourself.

well deviance means to go against the norm basically - any issues that would show foul play maybe or issues that are against society's expectations of right from wrong...
