Find something cooler, a Mustang or something. Hondas are the cars your dad drives if he is a government bureaucrat or teacher.

Both are pretty good cars and they both are pretty dependable. The accord is the better car. You can get a bigger engine, a v6 as opposed to a 4 cylinder with the civic. This means you'll have a bit more giddyup with the Accord. The accord is a bit roomier too. An accord will cost you more though as they seem to hold their value. You can probably get better gas mileage if you go with the Civic. Either one is a pretty good, dependable car (most foreign cars are better than US brands). My friend has a 1995 Civic that has been a really good car. They seem to run forever.

I've been driving my 1997 Accord for the last 10 years and have been impressed. I've kept up with the routine maintenance (oil changes, etc.), and the car has been great. At over 150,000 miles, has never been in the shop for anything major.
Now, there have been a few little things that irked me, like the knobs on my heater broke. Not a big deal, bought new knobs from the junkyard, just annoying. And the power windows are slow. Also annoying.
It's nice to have a car that has been paid off for nearly 5 years and hasn't cost a fortune to keep on the road. I'm gonna rock it till the wheels fall off.
Overall, it's been a great investment. I would recommend the Accord to anyone buying a new car.

Consumer Reports just released its annual car issue and rated both the Honda Civic and Accord as Great Cars. Since you are a student the style of the Civic is more youthful.
See if you can locate the new issue on the Newstands NOW. Itr just came out. It not only rates the new cars but rates used cars for the last 10 years.

The sad thing is, the new Civic is about as nice as the Accord EX for $8k less. The Accord has leather seats, an available V6, and is bigger. If those aren't important, go with the Civic. They're just as nice as an Accord these days.

I'm not sure where you live, but in the northern part of the country where they spread a lot of road salt and calcium chloride on the roads to keep the ice down, Hondas rust like mad. In addition, there are better vehicles out there for the same money. If you really want something that's going to run day in and day out, I recommend finding a Subaru Impressa or a Legacy. They're priced very comperable to the junk Honda has peddled for years, but they are easy to work on, and they truly last.

From my experiences all Hondas should be avoided. Seems like they either go to 200k or aren't worth fixing to get to 80k...good luck
