I own a transmission shop, and can tell you it will not work unless you get a control box (computer) to run your transmission. It will have no way of knowing when to shift the gears, and you will have no speedometer. There is an aftermarket controller you can buy that will solve the problem. Two places I can think of to tell you to get in touch with. One is TCI transmissions, and other is a company named Painless. You can find both of them on the Internet. Another idea is a company named Jet. Any one of these should be able to point you in the right direction.
Part 2:
If you can get your hands on one of the early model 700R-4 it will work without a computer, and has a hook up for a regular speedometer cable, but the newer ones will not work. There were only about 1-2 years of 700's that will work. You will have to use a 40-45 pressure switch, and wire it through the brake light switch. The other problem is; the newer ones have shift solenoids, and shift not only from information the computer receives from the speed sensor, but the throttle position sensor. Some may think it will work, but you can never get it to shift properly, and it will burn out. It will work, but like I said it will also burn/break due to line pressure problems. The ratio of the pull on the TV cable are not the same. I have been there and done that already.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

First off, the camaro should have a computer in 91. Second, if the caprice trans was hooked to the computer, it won't shift properly if not hooked up.

91 cars and trucks use the 700-R4, which uses a tv cable to shift it,only problem the lock-up won`t work, but it will shift into all the gears ok.with out a computer it will not have a grd for the solenoid.but there are after market kits to adress this problem. .
