Congrats to FireCop for the lamest answer i've ever heard on this subject....LSU sucked? what does that say about the team that lost to them 41-14? they only lost to auburn (dubiously) and UF (nat champs). and if you never heard of russell before now then youre not a college football fan. just looking at box scores doesn't tell you anything about a player (his stats were excellent btw, i don't know what you see wrong) he's big and slow? well yeah he's big, but he's quick for his size and athletic (i've seen him play basketball and he was streaking down the floor catching alley oops and dunking over people)...quinn's percentage near 63 %?? wow, well russells was 66%.....competition? LSU played 4 teams ranked in the top 6 ON THE ROAD last year. Quinn and Notre Dame beat one ranked team in the last 2 years combined. don't talk about stuff you can't back up even remotely intelligently.
oh and some numbers: quinn had a 61.8% completion percentage, russells was 67.8%. russell was sacked 15 times, brady quinn 31 times. qb rating? jamarcus-167.0...quinn-146.7....russell attempted 26.3 passes a game, quinn 35.9 attempts/game.

Best impact will probably be Brady Quinn, there is just something about that guy that tells me he's going to be great, he already seems like a pro....seeing as how the top 5 QBs are all quite good, I'd have to say Troy Smith will be the worst of the bunch. Winning the heisman doesn't mean you'll be good...hell as a Panther fan, I know Chris Weinke won it...and is like 2-18 in his career in the NFL, leading them to a 1-15 season in 2001.
Smith will be an alright QB in the league after a little while, but I don't think he'll be anything close to what Quinn will be.
(Did you mean any rookie? Well I don't believe in first round WR hype after Detroit and Atlanta, so Calvin Johnson will likely be a let down, I don't care what he's done in college until he shows me he can repeat in the pros...but I stick with Quinn for the best rookie in the draft.)

Why are people so ignorant? JaMarcus Russell will be a HUGE disappointment next year. Everybody is putting this guy on a pedestal. I never even heard of the guy before the draft. If you look at his stats he didn't throw the ball more than 20 times a game. And LSU sucked. He's big and slow in the pocket and with the Raiders weak o-line he's doomed.
Brady Quinn is the most under-rated player in the draft. Everybody has been putting him in the bottom half of the first round. He was the most prolific passer at Notre Dame ever. He passed for more than 300 yards numerous times and his completion % was up around 63%.

You know, I don't think we will ever see another Ryan Leaf fiasco, unless the dude fries his brain over night on drugs. The NFL and it teams go through major pains to weed out freaks. And it is specifically because of Ryan Leaf. Coaches knew that dude had issues years before he had the two great seasons at WSU. Even then when he was winning there were concerns, but everyone looked the otherway, because being associated with the #1 or #2 has a trickle down effect in Dollars.

Jamarcus Russel is this years Manning. He will have a long and successful career and be a very good quarterback.
Brady Quinn is this years Ryan Leaf. He will be drafted highly and be a complete bust. Seems like he has an attitude problem and he had a very easy schedule in college ( Navy, Army, Air Force)

As far as the Manning/Leaf of the quarterbacks this year, thats obvious, JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn. I dont see Russell being as great as Manning but really close to it. I don't see Quinn as horriffic as Ryan Leaf, but I do expect him to be on that Rick Mirer level. As far as the over hyped here's my list (in no particular order):
OT Joe Thomas - He's been mentioned as a possible #1 overall pick. Names like Tony Mandarich, Robert Gallery, and Leonard Davis come to my mind when I hear of offensive lineman going high in the draft
WR Ted Ginn - He's a slower version of Donte Hall. End the hype already

Calvin Jhonson could have a big impact if he lands in a good passing offense.
JaMarcus Russel is probably the most over-rated, sorry for the raiders if they decide to go with him.

I just wanted to comment on "Who Dat"s statement about Tedd Genn being a SLOWER version of Dante Hall.
Have you ever seen Tedd Ginn run? Take off your Buckeye hater blinders and look at his numbers. He set NATIONAL track records in High School. This doesn't mean he will be a good pro football player, but he is definitely NOT slow.
