they fixed their hands down biggest problem of last year, the bullpen now led by wickman. all of the great rookies have a year experience under their belts now, francoer, Mccann, langerhans, and not to mention smoltz, chipper, andreu, renteria! plus hudson is due, hampton is back, chuck james is getting good so what gives?

They're being overlooked as they've shown they're no longer invincible. People have been used to seeing the standings, and thought it was in alphabetical order.
Last year was a very off year... their hitting was great, but they lost 200 innings out of Hampton, and had no bullpen. They fixed both of those problems at the cost of some offense.
They're no longer a sure thing, but in baseball, no one is (and I mean no one), but they have a really good chance this year.

The Braves in my opinion are being overlooked because while they have improved their bullpen greatly...their lineup will take a big blow without LaRoche. They have no one even adequate to fill in for LaRoche. Their rotation has a lot of ?s after Smoltz too. Hudson had a 5 ERA last year, Hampton hasn't pitched healthy in an eternity, James is largely unproven and the 5th spot is up for grabs.
A ? rotation and a weaker lineup than last year makes me think they will finish 3rd behind the Mets and Phillies this season. BUT, they are the Braves and no one will be shocked if they win the NL East yet again.

Do you relatively need your team overpaying for Pavano or Beltre? Beltre grew to become right into a unfastened agent in 2004 and had a monster 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous to that, he grew to become into mediocre in assessment... extraordinarily pondering they have been the top of the steroid years. 2010, he's back a unfastened agent.... and he had yet another monster 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Do you notice a vogue here? he's one among those fellows who relaxes while he does not might desire to play for a clean settlement. He may be a first rate improve to numerous communities, yet no longer if he's going to ask for Jason Werth money. i think of he's nicely worth a 2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days $20 million settlement at superb, or if he needs better than 4 years, below $8 million according to season. you already know he will in all probability get a 5 3 hundred and sixty 5 days $eighty million deal from somebody desperate. you think of Pavano is yet another ace to circulate alongside Hudson? i think of you in user-friendly terms dissed Hudson with that remark. Pavano isn't an ace. he's a sturdy #3, possibly a #2 on communities without pitching.... and he's injury services. I advise, there is like one participant who's in all probability extra injury services than Pavano, and that's wealthy Harden. The Braves best hollow is in all probability there bench. The Giants beat them because of the fact we had extra effectual bench gamers and could make the main of them to make extra effectual matchups against opposing pitching staffs. yet another hollow is 1st base i think of.. and if Chipper retires or would be unable again, then you particularly could have one in LF.

The Braves have the potential to be the National League sleeper team.Smoltz,Hudson,James,Hampton and Davies...not too shabby and they addressed their bullpen by getting Rafeal Soriano and Mike Gonzalez.

They need to PROVE they are back and the same old Braves. Give them till the All Star break. They'll be ahead by 5 games by then. Meanwhile, enjoy the rebirth of the Braves!!

They are being overlooked simply because of the other teams that are in that division such as the Mets, Phillies, and Marlins. This will be an interesting season to say the least. And it will be interesting to see how everything unfolds in that division.

They still have to prove that they are better than last year. Don't forget about that sophomore slump that some players have so you cant count on those rookies from last year until the season begins.

Why would this year be any different? And I wouldn't advertise Langerhans as any kind of offensive help.

I, too, have wondered this. I'm from atlanta and I'm a regular at turner field. I haven't heard hardly anything about them this year and it's driving me crazy! I guess we'll see in April.

Their rotation sucks and their lineup has gotten worse. I agree with the Kennedy guy.
