I think Nowitzki will win it.
Nash is a Hall of Famer and one of the best players ever, but the voters might see an advantage in picking a new MVP who's almost as good, just for a change of pace. Picking a new MVP, whether he is truly the best player that year or not, reaches a new set of fans and broadens the appeal of the league. European interest in the NBA would increase (at least a little) if Nowitzki made it. If Nash did, I'm not sure whether the league would see any more interest beyond what has already been gained with Nash's first two MVPs.
I think it's hard to overcome this pattern unless you're truly a living legend, like Jordan, who seemed to boost the league's popularity each time he won the MVP.
And.... Dallas will likely end up with the best record, which isn't hugely important, but it doesn't hurt.

Probably should be Nash again i think. Dirk is on the team with the best record, but by definition a point guard will have more influence on the team as a whole. Nash deserves 3 in a row!!!

Honestly, I don't think anyone else qualifies quite as nicely as Nash does.
The MVP has to come from a playoff-contending team, and has to be the lifeline of that team, and has to contribute more than just points.
Gordon, Nowitzki, Arenas and LeBron are all great players who have done almost as well as Nash this year, but their teams perform nearly as well without them as they do with them.
The Suns went 1-4 without Nash.
Kobe Bryant fits into the 'MVP' description above, but when Phoenix and LA have faced off with Bryant and Nash both in the lineup, Phoenix has won soundly every time.

If its not Nash its a load of garbage. just because he was mvp 2 years in a row does not mean anyone is even close to his level of "mvp-ness" this year. he's proved in when they go 1 and 3 when he's gone and the suns are the best team in the nba with him

I could only imagine the pain you felt when Miami made the Dallas Fabrics look like a second rate team last year in the finals.
The reason i call them the fabrics is b/c the fold or flop or crease when you apply pressure to them. Dallas Is a great team... but Hasselhof is not the way to pump your team up before a game.

I believe that if it came down to one of the two players. (Steve or Dirk). It should be the one that is able to take their team to next level. At this point Steve has lead his team but now can he take them to the next level which is the NBA finals. Dirk has been there but now can their get the highest award given in the NBA.

I bet my marbles on Nash...Nash is a playmaker, he fires up the suns at crucial moments, he makes his teammates look good and do good will all his assists...with his high percentage of points per game, it just goes to show that he also is a go to guy when it comes to scoring....Nash outweighs Nowitzki when it comes to being a team player...Nowitzki shines on his own, he doesn't share the limelight that much
