The only thing you can do is show him or her what your product line is about and just hope the new person absorbs all the information you provide.

Mark is right-
You need to help educate this person in your products and industry. I assume you are a salesperson working under this individual.
The upper management chose this person for this position based on some qualities they see.
It is in your best interest to help him/her get up to speed. Who knows, they may prove to be a great asset to your sales force, and you in turn will earn better commissions. You can be certain, upper management is counting on this person to increase sales volume. Wouldn't that increase benefit you?
