I really don't know where to start. I have a diagram, but it doesn't look anything like my engine. I really need to know which bolts and where they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look under the hood. On each side but towards the top of the motor you will find two covers that look alike. Around these covers are bolts, not very big, but there several of them. Probably 10-12 per cover. That is your valve cover. Between that and the block are your valve cover gaskets.

If it is a 4cyl engine remove the spark plug leads and any associated hoses and plastic covers then the big nuts on the top of the valve cover around the spark plugs you undo and then remove the valve cover

let me see if i got this right; you replaced the engine, but are asking for help on how to replace the valve cover gasket? seems to me, if you have the ability to replace an engine, then a simple valve cover gasket would be a snap.

take it to a mechanic and have them take care of the problems, it could save you alot of money, especially if youre doing the work yourself. if something goes wrong and you do it yourself, then you may have to pay twice by taking it to a mechanic anyway. if the mechanic screws it up, take it back to them and make them redo it, should be free! good luck!
