Hey all! I'm now 39 weeks pregnant and 2cm dilated. Is there any way to speed this process up?

Walking helps to kick start your muscles causing contractions. The most important things is to keep relaxed. You can not loosen if you are tense on clenching all the muscle in your body. Do your breathing a lot. Mind over matter, you can do it! You can also try a hot shower this can help to move things along and help relax you. I found it to be rather cold though, i could not get the water hot enough in the hospital, lol. Like i said before stay relaxed and do your breathing. Your body will know when the time is right. it will be over before you know it. Congrats! Good luck and Good health to you and yours!

Some people swear by "visualization". In addition to being active by walking, you can also sit and focus on your belly, imagining the baby coming down the birth canal and labor progrssing. It's amazing what your mind can tell your body to do.

It may be the farthest thing from your mind, but sex can also speed things along because the man's semen can soften your cervix.

LOL I just answerd this question for someone else also. Anyways all my husband and I did was have sex (he got off inside me, that helps a lot) then we went and walked around a huge lake then we went to dinner. While we were eating dinner I went into labor. Try all of that. Good luck.

car ride over train tracks... you would be surprised how this works! lol

Also and this is going to sound weird, but have your mate play with your nipples it gets the oxytocin going in your system which helps bring on labor. This is one the labor department told me while I was having a hard time dilating.

My DR told me to WALK, have sex (the sprem has a chemical in it that softens the cervix and helps with dilation), do lunges.

But most importantly dont rush it. Baby will come when he/she is ready to come ... remember your due date is just a estimated date of delivery and could be off as much as 2wks either way.

CONGRATS and hope everything goes well and you dont have to wait much longer.

You could try going for a walk. Having sex is also a very good way of inducing your labor. Go for a drive on a really bumpy road. good luck!!!

You are carrying a very precious bundle there so do everything you can to be comfortable....get a massage, sleep as well as you can, get in water (bouyancy relieves the pressure). Continue to be active and walking is very good. All good things come in time!

Pray!!! And maybe walk or have sex too, but praying and begging for the little one to hurry seemed to be the only thing that helped out with my first one. Good luck!
