I am not sure why those sites are ranking higher than yours. One uses frames and the other has no metatags. Neither have as many links as your site.

What key words are you looking at?

Here's what I'm getting with a brief backlink analysis:

Your site is a PR3 with 88 backlinks. Of these backlinks the majority are using various anchor text distributions that aren't made up of your keywords. You'll want to do some additional link building using your targeted phrases as the backlink anchor text. The PR distribution of your incoming links is good.

BradleyFraser.com is a bit of ananomoly. They have links from Live.com that aren't showing up. This is probably the root of their rankings. Not high PageRank but good TrustRank.

Explore360.com bothers me in the same way any company that has multiple sites targeting the same keyword phrases does (i.e. a lot). They have few but higher PR backlinks. They're also making decent use of the anchor text.

I wish you a lot of luck with this one. They shouldn't be too hard to beat. You just need more, well structured links.

Paid inclusion a real possibility given the lack of incoming links to their site.

If a paid model isn't on your list of to do's, try soliciting a firm who specializes in organic positioning. There are several best practicies ommitted from your site currently, including the use of thematic pages and headings. A firm will be able to help you identify - and rectify - these pit falls.

Try putting your main heading in an h1 tag to add weight to your page title, and see how you move in the SERPS for "cabo wedding photographer."

There are few ethical, "educational" firms out there who can supply tailored information and recommendations on a monthly basis for as little as a few hundred dollars per month.

the quality and the number of the backlinks could influence the Google PageRank ( read more about PageRank on http://www.webcodes.info/pagerank.htm )

The keyword density also is very important. There are several tools to verify the density ( http://www.webcodes.info/seo-tools.htm ) and take into account that googe and yahoo have different algorithms about the keyword density requirements ( read more on http://www.webcodes.info/keyword-density.htm )

Or the domain could be old and have lots of incoming links.
There are a lot of possibilities.

The other thing that matters is how many visits you get. Perhaps they are paying for ads or have been around longer. Perhaps their subject matter is unique. If you do a website on the spotted Samalian Cuckoo bird you can be ranked number one in that category.

- few text is not an important criteria
- number of links is not the most important but quality links is more important, you can get 1000 links but some one can rank well with 50
- try to do your on-page optimization
- the most important factor to rabk well is to use "anchor text" with your keywords, vary them
- link to trust web site and add your link to web site where they use yoiur keywords and keyword phrases in the url where they link to you.
- study your competitors and copy their strategy
- posting in forum by using your keyword in your signature can help you more and more
- write articles and submit them to articles directories
- use the most popular photo-sharing websites (it is the most important opportunity for you) such as
* flickr: http://www.flickr.com
* Fotolog http://www.fotolog.com
you can use this list of free seo tools.

Maybe because they don't have a purple mohawk. :-)

Seriously, you didn't mention the search engine you were targeting nor the keyword phrase you were marketing to.

If the issue is with Google it will be incoming links, number of pages and Title tags.

Small Business Marketing Strategy: Target the up-and-coming search engines

While Google still rules the roost when it comes to Internet search engines, and Yahoo is firmly entrenched in second spot, a number of new start-ups are hoping to give them a run for their money. And a good small business marketing strategy would be to check them out and see how you can make them work for your site!

Some of the new up-and-comers include:

Powerset (www.powerset.com): A "natural language" search engine

Hakia (www.hakia.com): A "meaning-based" search engine

Wikia(www.wikia.com): A "community-based" search engine

ChaCha(www.chacha.com): A "social networking-based" search engine

Snap (www.snap.com): A search engine that offers visual previews

It's a smart small business marketing strategy to continue optimizing for the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines as they are by far and away the most popular -- but niche search engines could provide new opportunities to reach your market. Be sure to check them out!

Most likley they are using paid inclusions. They are paying the search engines money to get a better listing.
