Canada will always dominate the sport in our lifetimes. They will just do it on American teams... the expansion guarantees this.
But start seeing more and more American players in the future... there are public high school teams in Texas and California; high school will grow into more college teams.

Canada will always have an edge because of the juniors but the growth of the NHL is going international. This is just evolutuion, you just have to accept that.

Exactly 52% of NHL players are Canadian which amounts to 377 players. So as far as the number of players from one specific country Canada still dominates.

If you look at the top 10 player stats, 7 of the top 10 are Canadian players.

As for Carolina, 52% of their players are Canadian. As for Tampa Bay, 64% Canadian players.

So, with the emergence of good talent from other countries, Canada is still the country that provides the most players to NHL teams.

You can't take it like that, hockey is still CANADIAN game.Look, yes it is fact - Canadian team didn't win cup sense 1993,but look at winner teams - best player of playoff is always Canadian(with exception of Brian Leech-94 and Lidstrom-02).So if you're watching NHL playoffs, you can see and you can feel that hockey is damn CANADIAN game.

Well what do you expect. The majority of teams are in the U.S. so the U.S. teams are bound to win more Cups. As to the Europeans, what you want to shut them out? They have been playing hockey for years. Now that it is easier to travel, and cheaper, they are going to keep coming.
