another teenager question? teens, adults, wise people please answer?

Question

how do you know a guy likes you? i'm not all that pretty (like at all, i got glasses and zits and a little chunky). but there's this boy i like. he's not very popular, tall and lanky, plays the trombone. but very outgoing. we';re friends, and he always chooses to be next to me and puts me on his team (when we're playing sports with the other teenagers). and all, but how do i know if he likes me. please don't be sarcastic or say "just ask him". i'm 15 and he's almost `15, but he looks 16. we have another frien Liz, the 3 of us are a trio. once she just came up to me and said "this is one of those weird and wacky questions i ask sometimes, but if david asked you out would you go with him?" and after i answered (with a maybe, cause i didn't really want to tell her, the only ones that know i like him are my sibs). she just walked away. a clue? he doesn't tease me, and he always nice and respectable and holds the door open and smiles alot. i really like him, but how do i know if he likes me

It could be a clue - very often those questions come out of the blue because the asker has been asked to ask the question (by the other person - in this case, your David).

People tell you to ask him so that you have some control in the relationship. It is very hard for anyone to sit around and wonder and wait for the other person to make a move. If you get up your courage and ask him or tell him you like him - or even arrange for some time when you 2 can be alone - then you are at least not just at the mercy of the whim of another.

From what you say, it surely sounds like he is more likely interested in you than not. Did you mention to him Liz's question? I wonder if Liz noticed the attraction between the 2 of you and asked him if he likes you, too. You could start with that with David "Did you talk to Liz about us going out - because she asked me if I would go out with you if you asked me." From there you can just dismiss it if he reacts badly, like "Well she did say it was just a question out of the blue" or maybe he will tell you that she asked him a similar question (in which case maybe Liz is trying to make a match) or if he blushes then you have an idea that he put her up to it. Look, your gorgeous. Don't EVER call yourself un attractive, you hear me?? Second, if you like him go for it. Guys find it even more attractive if a girl makes the first move. Maybe your friend is playing match maker or maybe he told her something about how he thought you were cute etc.. and she wanted to see if you liked him back.
Strike up a normal convo and when it's the right time in the convo, ask him if he likes anyone. He will probably ask you the same thing back... I had a guy friend who i asked that to and then he asked me, I said yes, and he was started acting a little jealous and asked me who, but I wouldn't tell him. he tried all his hardest to know who it was, if he acts like that & is really jealous, he more than likely has a crush on you. There isn't any sure way to tell if he likes you, all guys act different. You just need to be yourself and find out. Good luck sweetie.

This is a tough one, especially when you are 15. I would say that the fact he chooses you for the team and feels comfortable around you must mean that you have a quallity or two about yourself that he likes. Continue just being you and if he is really interested, he will approach you. Keep in mind this may take a few more years.
P.S. Just because you have glasses (which I find attractive on people) and have some breakouts and a little extra weight doesn't mean you are not pretty.

All of the signs are right there that he cares about you very much and likes you. Also respects you as a person by opening dooras for you. He sounds like a wonderful kid! Sometimes its just as hard for a guy to ask a girl out as it is for us girls! Remember- he is 14 just like u and he is just as confused and unsure of himself as you are! Keep talking with him- smile and laugh and have fun with him. BUT yes it does sound like he likes you! True u could ask him if he wants to see a scary movie over the weekend. Tell him u just hate going alone and your other friend cant go for some reason and u wont go alone. I WILL ANSWER. I remember being 15 (I am now 36), and I used to hang out with the pastor's son and my best friend. We were a treesome too. I had acne, glasses, and bad teeth (got braces later). My problem was because I didn't have a dad, I constantly got "crushes" on guys. If they were nice to me. I thought that they must reakky like me. I have 2 girls now, and when they are 15 I will tell them what I am telling you now.....
don't worry so much!! relationships take time. Be a friend, and play it cool. Some guys don't like girls that jump to the conclusion that they may be "in love" with you just because they are nice to you. Have lots of guy friends, it's the best way to know what guys are like. Don't be akward around him, do whatever comes naturally with him. If this goes in the direction of a relationship, you will know.

First of all, Being a little chunky does not make you unattractive. My son uses Proactive ask mom if you can try some, it heps his skin.

Glasses dont make you ugly either, Beauty is inside honey always remember that. I'm sure your cute, just way to critical of yourself. If you dont feel all that on the outside, make the inside the best it can be.

Think of others first, This makes your beautiful inside and out. If you like him get to know him even better. It sure sounds like he likes you too. Your young just take things slow.... friends first is the basis of a lasting relationship.

You may never get the answer you are looking for because both you and him are in the middle of the teenage hormone years. If you want to get a better idea, call him and see if he wants to go to a movie or go for a walk. It should just be the two of you. he definitely likes you as a friend. Maybe HE was the one who told ur friend that he liked u and he didn't have the courage to ask u if u like him or not so he told ur friend to ask u. And why wouldn't u tell ur friend that u like him? Imean, it's not like something really embarassing its a regular teenage hormone u know? Is ur other friend is a true friend she wouldn't make fun of u. Just ask him- guys sometimes think that u r cute when girls make the move. His actions could also be hints that he likes u. I mean, if he is ur friend too, he wouldn't trty to torture u by rejecting u harshly right? And by his actions, i could tell he is a nice boy and he can probably look ur inside and ur personality.

I would say that at the very least he likes you as a friend. And dont sell yourself short, Im sure you're very cute! I think that you're friend was asking specifically to play matchmaker, though whether he set her up to it or not, who knows? But she certainly knows something you dont. So come clean to her, and try to figure out why she asked. Chances are, she knows if he likes you or not.

im 15 too and had a friend that had the same problem. ask your friend to ask him if he likes anyone but make sure they dont drop any hints that u like him. hope everything works out 4 u!!
