My 9 month old daughter has very dry skin all over her body. I use the Aveeno baby cream and have cut down on the soapy baths (we still give her a bath at night to keep the night routine, just without the soap). Anyway, the worst part of it is in her hair. She definitely does not have cradle cap, it is not thick and yellow scaly stuff, but rather thin, white flakes. She doesn't have that much hair so it looks nasty. Does anyone have any advice for me?

I would talk to your ped. She may need some medicated shampoo. They make dandruff shampoo for babies.

Mustela Newborn foaming shampoo for the head and the Mustela Milk Bath for the Body.
My son never had cradle cap for as long as I used the Mustela as soon as I stopped when he was about 1 he got the flaky cracked skin. I immediately restarted the Mustela Newborn Shampoo and the cradle cap cleared up within a couple of days.
The milk bath moisturizes the skin and helps to sooth the dryness.

Hi there. Don't worry. There are products to help with your baby's skin. Research your baby care products before you use them as infant skin is extremely sensitive. Many baby care products (including lotions) contain mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of our skin, sitting on the top layer like saran wrap. These products get wiped off over time and give little to no benefit but rather a temporary feeling of softness. Babys need water based product that will penetrate their skin and deeply condition and hydrate with the proper ingredients. Arbonne has a great baby care line that is botanically-based and pH correct, pediatrician and dermatologist tested, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and formulated without nut oils. They are formulated with natural ingredients like oat flour which is an emollient and an emulsifier. It’s highly absorbent and hypoallergenic. Oat flour helps to soothe and soften dry, itchy and sensitive skin. I think that it's best to try a product first to ensure that's it's beneficial before spending your money. If you're interested in trying a free sample, I'll be happy to send you one.

I have severely dry skin, have had it all my life. It recently developed into painful eczema. I went to a dermatologist 2 weeks ago and she said to use Dove Body Wash (I use Dove Moisturizing) and coat myself head to toe, 2x a day in Cetaphil cream (the cream in a tub, not the lotion.). It worked like a charm w/i 24hrs. My 6mos old daughter is also starting to get these 'rhino' patches of skin and I started using the same regimen on her. It took care of it immediately.
Following up with your pediatrician is never a bad idea either.

I dont know what to tell you about the hair except try baby oil and I know thats a mess. But as for the dry skin. My baby 8 months had dry chapped cheeks and dry skin on the bottom of her arms and legs the doctor told me to use Eucerin calming cream. I used it and the dry skin was gone within a few days. I dont use baby lotion anymore. It doesnt make them smell like the good smell of the baby lotion. But his cheeks are no longer rough or red!!!

Try looking up Tea Tree Oil. Make sure she's not allergic first by testing a little bit of it on her neck or something (just a little). It's supposed to be great for dry skin & all natural.
Also, I'd recommend a pediatrician or dermatologist. Let them take a look because it could be fungal and you may need anti-fungal medicine.

Baby oil. It will put some moisture in there. It will make her hair look oily but it does work. Good luck
