Do you know what money China is increasing it's military spending with?
Look up and down the shelves at Wal Mart, that's what.
We are essentially buying DVD players from them to help fund a military that will be a threat to us.
If I hear one presidential candidate address the trade imbalance with countries that threaten us (China, Venezuela etc...)
he/she has my vote!!!

There is no need because there is no foreseeable substantial conflict between the US and China. While we may be ideological opponents overall, the fact is that China is changing rapidly internally.
The only contentious point really is Taiwan. As long as Taiwan doesn't go on about being recognized as a separate country and everybody buys into this, there won't be any trouble.
Then there would be the enormous economic impact of such an action.
Thus, overall, it makes very little sense to take this type of action. There is too much to lose, and nothing to gain.

the U.S wants China to be a world superpower because they need a new enemy. That is how politics works, they always need an enemy or an adversary so they can be perceived as the "good guy", ever since the USSR collapsed the US has been grooming China to be their next bad guy. Everything that happens politically is allowed to happen by very powerful people who "rule" the world, politicians and governments are just puppets to do their bidding. Noam Chomsky talks about an intelectual elite who basically pulls the strings on world events.
listen, U.S companies made alot of money during the cold war with USSR, having a rival such as China will help our economy and having a communist country as a superpower will make the U.S look less like a bad guy.

No, in fact that would be disasterous. We should limit China's growing power by leveling the playing field between our country's labor and theirs using tariffs.
We should play the threats of Radical Islam and Communist China against each other the way we did with the Soviet Union.

First of all that kind of thinking is insane and to say that the U.S could "easily take them now" shows lack of knowledge and is quite simply put, scary......they are a nuclear power, and have a huge military, in fact they have the largest military in the world personnel wise. To attack China would surely mean millions of dead and change the world as we no it!

Hey, I hear that Israel has a huge army. Wanna take car of that country?
Oh and what about the US, should the Navy attack the Air force, I mean, what if the air force rebelled and attack the US?
WAR IS NEVER A SOLUTION.
Oh and to the smartass bound to point out WW2, WW2 was the consequences of multiple conflicts.

if that is your only reason for taking action against china than you are crazy.......for that reason would you want to jump start WWIII????.....just because of a pissing contest of military spending....... please.......we had the samething with russia.....the cold war if you remember and there was no need for invasion.....however if you stop buying products made in china you will personally stop financing their military.

Nah, they aren't a threat to anyone. We're the ones that keep attacking nations like Grenada (Reagan) and Iraq (Bush 1 & 2) for no reason...
