It's India's answer to Hollywood, nicknamed as such because of all the movies being made in the Mumbai-based film industry, the biggest film industry in the world with 1000 movies a year. The term is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema.

The name is a portmanteau of Bombay (the former name for Mumbai) and Hollywood, the center of the American film industry

It is the name for the Indian movie industry which makes mostly love stories set to music. They are colorful and catchy movies and are alot of fun to watch even if you don't understand Hindi. They make like a zillion dollars per movie.
