i know that i'm taking a risk assuming that people even know enough classical music to assemble a list of ten. i know i don't know enough, and that is why i'm asking. for my 'overture blitz!'

While most of these are Romantic era and not Classical era, and Symphonies or movements and not strictly Overtures, my guess is this it the type of list you are looking for.

I seriously like baroque music better try Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
