TV's emit photons of light from the screen, which are transverse waves in the visible region of the EM spectrum (i.e. because you can see the picture)

All waves are transverse, with the exception of sound waves, which are longitudinal (i.e. the direction of the travelling wave is the same as the vibration of the air molecules which carry it.)

In transverse waves (or EM waves), the direction of the wave is perpendicular (i.e. at 90 degrees) to both the magnetic and electric fields which make it up.
