Friends of ours are about to pop out baby #2 (gender unknown), and we wanted to get them all something.

Obviously getting things for baby #2 is easy. Neutral baby things. Woo!

The new parents need relaxation and also have a 3 year old to entertain!!

For the parents:
--Massage oils maybe?
--Any other ideas?
--We don't live in the same state, so getting a gift certificate for a massage or something isn't really possible at this point.

For the Big Sister:
--A doll? I really don't know. We're trying to find out what she's into right now.

We have a limited budget of about $40 total, so it can't be extreme.

ANY ideas would be greatly welcomed!

A gift certificate would be a great idea...even though you live in another state you can check any restaurant's website and find a location...you can check if there is one near them! A night out for the family with no cooking or clean up is a great idea!

Or what about an "entertainment basket"....buy a DVD (a family friendly one so the big sister can watch too!) And fill the basket with popcorn, candy in the movie theatre type boxes, etc...It says a night of fun and relaxation the whole family can do.

Or a relaxation package...buy massage oil, lavendar (or other soothing smells) scented candles, bath salts, even a bottle of wine...of course, this would be for adults and wouldn't include the daughter.

You sound like a very considerate friend! Good luck!

Give the parents a gift card to a movie or dinner (and something saying you will watch the kids when they go). And give the little girl a "certificate" to a local children's resturaunt (that you can take her to when you watch her). We have place here called Chuck E. Cheese they serve pizza and have a bunch of arcade type games along with people who dress up as characters to entertain the children, a place like that would be perfect. Also, I KNOW from experience that it is a VERY nice thing for people to cook a meal to bring over for the family in that first week, maybe you could find out their favorite foods and offer to cook dinner for a few nights? I think that would be a great gift!

How about a theme to your gift, such as a movie theme? You could get them a family movie (DVD) they can all watch together (a Disney movie or something similiar), popcorn and a popcorn container (they sell some really cute ones that look like the real popcorn containers in the movie theater), etc. It's a gift for the whole family to enjoy and the parents can sort of relax while watching the movie together.
Hope this helps a little!!! ;)

For her... some candles and bath/shower oils. For big sister.. a doll would be great with some stuff to take care of it. That way both "girls" have a baby. For dad? I don't know. You could throw some energy bars in there with some ear plugs. But really for dad I don't know. That is really sweet of you. Good luck

you could get the parents a gift certificate for a restuarant so they could go out for a nice dinner alone.

Get the older daughter a movie or game, something she can sit down and do so she wont be running around the house all day wearing out the parents.

Give them a movie gift certificate to regal cinemas, or to a resteraunt (since she might not want to cook).
