such as take a break and real people? i have on rare occasions bought these magazines and couldnt believe the stories!
there are really tragic stories like, "my 2 year old daughter died of cancer" i just dont understand what drives people to sell such awful stories for a couple of hundred quid!

If you had to pay for that little girl's funeral you might want that two hundred quid to defer the expenses of embalming, opening and closing the the grave, purchasing the coffin and or the flowers, the cost of the hearse, and so on that most people do not set up any money for when you are talking about a child. That part of the tragedy is overlooked.

Some do it to be famous or sometimes for a good cause. Some do it for revenge to expose such horrible people and as you said in this world everyone wants a decent wage, so they're desperate to get their hands on some cash, why not sell their story?

I used to work for Take a Break.

Basically is is geared towards working class women of low socio-economic status and gives a "friendly" and "supportive" attitude towards these women who sell the story.

Take a Break generally generally has a focus on relationships and stories about "Love Rats" really sell.

The women obviously get up to £500 (tax free) which is a lot of money to them. They can also find it theraputic to share their burdens with others.

Many readers write in letters of support which help those who sell the story to deal with them.

Whenever I interviewed women for a story they always said they felt better for talking about it.

They do want the money. But some people are still grieving and they may want to share their story to other people to let them know how awful it is to lose someone you love very much. And maybe to help other people that have been through a similar experiance.

They do it for so many different reasons. Some for money, some for attention. The ones that really deserve the money are the one that are doing it because they are trying to help the hospital or charity that helped them through their emotional period.

When you have no money you will do all sorts to get some.

Don't take it all to seriously though, we write any old heart tugging rubbish for the publishers. They love it and so apparently do the public.

When you read them in future put your tongue to one side of your mouth towards your cheek and they wont seem to bad.

Sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These stories are just not true.

Money. And it's sad that we live in a world where people are so easily motivated when it comes to making a quick buck.

desperate for £, possibly they are in debt?
are still in pain about what happened, want to tell people about it to get soem attention?
i don't really know why but as long as the magazines keep paying people to do it and the people keep telling their stories the magazines will still be in business! the vicious cycle...

I'm guessing it's for the money and fame. And to be fair, it could be that whatever they've been through could be really traumatic and it's a way for them to heal themselves psychologically.
