First of all... there cant be a single program that can entirely protect ur PC.For that to happen u might have to never use Internet and any external devices.. no cds, dvds, floppies, other hdds, pendrives or anything external.. well thats pretty tough.!!!! ;-)
For complete(almost complete) protection u should use atleast best two from each lot.
Antivirus:
paid: . Kaspersky, Bit Difender, McAfee
free: avast, AVG
Spyware detector
paid: SpywareSweeper, Spyware Doctor
free: WindowsDefender, Spyware Terminator
Firewall
paid: ZoneAlarm Pro
free: Jetico http://www.jetico.com/index.htm#/jpfirewall.htm
Trojan Remover
paid: AVG Anti-Spyware(full), TrojanHunter
free: AVG Anti-Spyware.
And try to use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE.
Sorry links take time to find out. Just google up and u can it find it.
:-)

The best one suposivly on the market is Nortan which comes in a few different types I sudjust Nortan Internet security, which stops trojans and a bunch of others, just need to update the info ever couple of weeks for new viruses.
the other is McCafy or something like that which works really well but it takes alot of memory from a computer and it don't really keep you notified of much.
they both are around $60 or more depends on what you want in it.
you can normaly get it at walmart or any place like that.

I have tried Norton twice. It gave trouble with upgrades. Went to AVAST (free edition) and computer has never had trouble, never run better. AOL also has a free program. Try your provider. Most have a free protection program.

Tired of running loads of antivirus software? Get a Mac or use Linux. As long as you use Windows you're going to need lots of AV software, and even then, your computer still won't be secure.

You need an Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and a Firewall
AVG free http://free.grisoft.com for Anti-Virus
Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com for Anti-Spyware
ZoneAlarm http://www.zonelabs.com for firewall
Don't let anybody tell you that you need Norton (It's bloatware junk)
