Every time i try to play a game besides one certain one, downloaded or a game disc, it shows a black screen for 1 or 2 seconds and it returns me to my desktop and when i try to bring it up again it does the same thing and the game is still running in the background, not the foreground like i want it to.

the only game that always works without that happening is Second life, By Linden Labs ( http://www.secondlife.com/ )
can anyone help me??? i have a Dell but my warrantee expired so i cant ask them, Dell on Call is kinda expensive, and the In-Computer troubleshooter didn't help at all.

Sounds like a program is running on your computer all the time and it is pushing the game off, not a virus though I assure you. I suggest using task manager and look at some programs the run on your computer full time. Make sure to look up the process before ending it, and never ever turn off EXPLORER.EXE. That program runs the start bar and icons.

I have had the same problems with certain games. This is what I did that solved the problem: clicked on the X at the top right toolbar; this took the internet explorer off while I played. After playing, I simply clicked on to restore the internet. I hope this is what is going on with yours.

Could the problem be that the game runs in a resolution that your video card or monitor has trouble displaying? If so, maybe you could change the resolution in the settings or preferences.
