Your doctor can do an internal ultrasound that will show the baby even at this early stage. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks which enabled my husband and I to see the babys heart beat - it looked like a flicker of light on the screen and to see that there was one group of cells developing hence one baby. It just looked like a round ball of cells at that point, but it was truly amazing!!! Congratulations and enjoy!

Ultrasound or doppler heartbeat check. Early ultrasound is the most definative way. I'm assuming you have a family history or think you're showing early. Things to know: familial history only matters on the maternal side. Throw out any identical twins because those are not genticly linked. So, if you have sets of fraternal twins on your side, then your chances are likely higher. Best of luck to you.

It would be difficult to tell for sure, but if you're certain about when you became pregnant, you can tell. You need to get a couple of HCG blood tests done a few days apart, as your doctor orders. There is a range that is normal for this stage of your pregnancy. If your level is significantly higher, it means that you are either further along than you thought, or you have multiple pregnancies (twins or more). Since the blood tests aren't required, you would probably have to pay out of pocket for one or both tests. Good luck to you!

You won't know until you have an ultrasound or your obgyn hears 2 different heartbeats. Does twins run in your family is that why you are so concerned. If this is the case tell your obgyn your concerned about having twins.

you would need your doctor to confirm this by hearing 2 seperate heartbeats apart from yours, or the doctor seeing 2 embryos and sacs on the ultrasound. I've also heard that many symptoms seem magnified/doubled when you are prego with 2. Good luck!

its really early-sono or hearing 2 heartbeats-even a sono might not pick it up if one is hiding behind the other-so the best thing to do is have your doctor check around for heartbeats-goodluck

You can't tell at this point. You'll have to wait until you have an ultrasound.
