I was in the emergency room last night and the doctor saw the sac but not the baby. Now i am scared because they said i have to come back in 48 hours, that it could be a possible ectopic.

I will pray for you that you do not have an etopic pregnancy. 5 weeks is early to see an embryo- I volunteer in a clinic that does ultrasounds and usually 5 weeks is early- 6-7 weeks is normally the time to see the embryo. Take car

Yes, if they use a wand rather than a traditional "on the tummy" ultrasound. You usually see the sac that holds the nutrients, and that looks like a ball on the screen. When I was 5 weeks, I was able to see the embryo moving around like crazy, and we even heard a faint heartbeat (quite hard to hear). Good luck!

yes.

i had a scan at 5.5 weeks due to light spotting.

however it did not look like a baby. it just looked like a little blob.

they just checked for foetal heartbeat, gestational sac, number of pregnancies present and the it was a uterine pregnancy.

Most likely. If they can detect ovarian cysts that way I'm sure they could see a little embryo.

Its possible, but at the same time not garaunteed. So don't be upset if they do a scan and don't see anything. Best of luck.
