Move to New Orleans. That place has been owned, operated, controlled, dominated and governed by liberal democrats for the past 70 years. The results are amazing.
It is really hard to solve poverty when the theme of the Democratic party is:
"It's not your fault, you are a victim of society. Sit on your behind and wait for the government to save you. Life is horrible and it is going to get worse for you."

The gap between rich and poor is increasing dramatically.
Rates of poverty among Americans has increased more in the past five years than at any time in American history. Yet productivity among American workers has increased.
Meaning? Wages have gone down while hours at work have gone up.
Tax cuts for the wealthy have proven detrimental to the poor.
