Erm, most chicken have "nails" that are less than a centimetre long HOWEVER, cocks (no kidding--the roosters) can have extremely long spurs and that's how cock-fighting works. The roosters tend to fight (you only keep one rooster with a flock of hens) and they will fight to the death with their spurs.

One of our old roosters had spurs so long that he could hardly walk. We had to trim them.
