Explain why commitment to Radical Republican Reconstruction ended and why Reconstruction ended officailly in 1877.

Radical Reconstruction ended because it was not working...they were forcing the South to conform to what the Radical Republicans wanted...i.e. stealing exslave owner's land and giving it to exslaves, put blacks into elected position...this caused the rise of the Ku Klux Klan and made it very hard to rebuild the South...Reconstruction ended in 77 because the Government did not want to spend anymore money on it...plan and simple...if Lincoln had not died, Reconstruction would have been different..
