Just never mix the two. In both, you must have goals that are measurable and they must be revisited regularly. Don't set too many; you will only become overwhelmed. They also must be realistic. Your place of employment will dictate most of those goals; how you implement them depends on your own character. In your personal life, what is it that you want more than anything? For most of us, it is harmony and balance within a circle of friends and family. What can you bring to that plate?

What do you want to do or accomplish?

Ask yourself first, What is my goal?

Then ask what skills you have now that will help you reach that goal.

Then ask what skills you need to attain in addition to your current skills to attain that goal.

Then get to work attaining those extra skills.
