If so how, can we go beyond ideology?

Yes, we can. If you mean for example, our parents have an idea of what they want us to be. Then we have an idea of what we our selves want to be. People always have an idea of you, but sometimes do not see the real you. Sometimes one has to almost fight to be them-self and transcend others ideas. People will put you up on a pedestal, thinking you are some kind of princess or angel, then when you fall, they are disappointed. They had an ideal, they did not want to see the real you.
So it is a struggle sometimes, but yes, on can transcend. If people have a problem with your transition, then see it as "their," problem and don't take it personally.

I'd suggest that reading a lot will expose a person to different points of view. The more one reads the more the reader will get to know the strengths and weaknesses of a particular ideology. The reader will then start thinking for himself or herself and thus transcend ideology.

What do you mean? Why is it desirable? Elaborate.
