Good for you. Really. So.

Any reason you can't just refuse the induction?

They can't make you have labour induced you know. Has the doctor giving you a good enough reason to have the induction? Is the baby actually at risk? If so why are they waiting until Friday? If not, why are they inducing at all? Nobody can force you, if you don't want it just say you're not having it. Anyway it's only Tuesday so you'll probably have gone into labour naturally by then. Monitor your baby's movements, count how many times you can feel movement during the day. If the baby is active then it isn't suffering from oxygen deprivation.

You can't make labour happen any faster than it will naturally but don't stress, it'll probably start any minute now. Good luck.

You don't have to go into labor before Friday to avoid being induced, unless there's a medical reason that the docs are in a hurry. If you don't want to be induced, ask the doc for more time. I think my dates were off with one of my sons, because they induced thinking he was two weeks late, but I think he was two weeks early because he was pretty small compared to my other three. He's 13 now, and sometimes he still seems "not quite done," lol. With another of my babies, I tried walking up and down a flight of 900 steps and it didn't help. I think your only real choices are to wait patiently, or be induced. Sorry. Congratulations!

You're right--don't do the castor oil--it can make things worse. I've heard that people have tried walking, warm baths/showers, having sex, nipple stimulation, and a few other things to bring on labor. Hopefully it will come naturally, but maybe baby's just comfortable in there! Don't fret if you have to be induced, though. Good Luck!

I know how you feel. I wanted to go into labor naturally too and it just didn't happen. But i am like you if i ever get pregnant again i will NOT be induced i don't care how long it takes for labor to come on. I hated every part of being induced. Try walking, go to the mall and walk, maybe it will happen. GOOD LUCK HUN!!!!!

Don't get induced if you don't want to, unless there is a medical reason. My doctor tried to get me to induce 2.5 weeks before my due date. I asked him if there was a problem, he said, "no, but I think your baby is going to be big". I asked how big, and he said about 8.5 pounds. I said, well, I think I can manage that, no thanks. Every week he asked me when I wanted to induce. I found out later, he was in the process of moving his practice to another town (he didn't tell me that when I became his patient about 5 months into my pregnancy when we moved) and wanted me to just have the baby on his terms. Jerk. Just make sure your doctor doesn't have his own agenda on his mind. If your way overdue or something, it's totally understandable. Anyway, sorry to tell you that all those "get the baby out" tricks are just old wives tales. Nature sometimes takes more time than we would like.

Well, walk a lot and do squats. Another thing you hear is eating spicy foods. And maybe your husband isn't around but that doesn't mean you cant have an orgasm, the muscle contractions may help speed up things.
Something I used on my baby was telling him it was really time to come out. It worked for sons one and two. Number three decided to have me induced. Good luck.

You don't have to have a partner to have an orgasm. It's well-known that it can help your uterus strengthen and contract. My doctor recommended it when he thought he couldn't get me into the hospital in time. Walking is also very good for encouraging labor. Keep that up until the very last moment because once you're induced, they keep you hooked up to stuff and in bed.
