Do you think Regan's idea of a nuclear missile "shield" wrapped around the Earth would have had the unexpected benefit of also protecting us against harmful UV rays? Almost like a second O-zone layer?

Star Wars fan here! My 5 yo is a bigtime fan too He loves the movies (old and new) and has many video games! One son loves Anikin, and the other's fav is Vader. Go Figure. lol
Just not of regan's idea of Star Wars.... I don't know much about all that.... But if there were a shield around the earth, it may help protect us from the UV rays, but wouldn't it also lock in all the harmful junk that we do to this planet? Think about it.

The shield around Echo Base at Hoth was "strong enough to deflect any bombardment," so yeah, I guess so. I didn't think the nuke shield was Regan's idea, though; he was Secretary of the Treasury in the 80s, wasn't he?

I like Star Wars, but a big fan and no I dont agree with Regans idea and no I dont think it would have protected us.

The SDI so-called "shield" is not a physical shield, but just a constellation of satellites with the vision and range to "cover" the entire U.S. airspace.
